GREATER NOIDA: It’s a classic case of putting the cart before the horse. Over 800 people allotted industrial plots four to five years ago are still awaiting possession as Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority is yet to complete acquisition of the land.

In fact, YEIDA had sold the land — launched as industrial plot schemes 1 and 2 in Sector 32 of Yamuna Expressway region in 2013 — to 821 people in 2014 and 2015 before it had taken full possession of the same from farmers. Thus, any development by way of roads, drainage, sewer, water, electricity etc is missing.

Now, the Authority claims to have purchased 80% of the land while the allottees of plots ranging from 300 to 1800 sq m say they are paying huge half-yearly instalments ranging between Rs 7-8 lakh for a 1000 sq m plot which hasn’t even been developed yet.

Last week, a delegation of allottees under the banner of Yamuna Expressway Entrepreneurs Association (YEEA) visited the site and met YEIDA officials. The Authority maintains development work is underway and possession is likely to begin from July.

“The members of YEEA met SK Dubey, the additional CEO of YEIDA on June 7 and appraised him of our problems. We told him we had applied for the industrial plots in 2013 and still waiting for the possession. Dubey assured as that the development work of Sector 32 is being done on priority basis,” said YEEA secretary Rishabh Nigam. Nigam said while the cost of land according to the launch scheme was Rs 5,500 per sq m in 2013, YEIDA sold it for Rs 6,100 per sq m. At present, the rate for the same plot is Rs 6,600. We’ve paid interest, waited for six years, but got nothing in return. If we surrender the plot, we will have to bear 10% cut of the allotment.”

The allottees are also a worried lot over the state of infrastructure in the area.

When contacted, Dubey, the ACEO, told TOI that YEIDA has purchased about 80% land from farmers in Sector 32 of Yamuna Expressway. “The remaining 20% land will be purchased by June 30. Since land is being purchased with mutual consent from farmers, the process has been time consuming,” he said.

Dubey also claimed that all development work, including that of sewage, drains, water pipelines and road connectivity, is currently underway in the sector. “We may begin giving possession to allottees from next month,” he added.
