Accident insurance scheme for Indian expatriates
A new group personal accident insurance scheme for Indians working in the Gulf has been launched in Qatar.
The scheme is floated by the National Insurance Company Limited in association with Indian Nationals Abroad, an Indian expatriate organisation in Qatar.
The scheme, launched recently, provides compensation for the insured person in the event of accidental injuries causing death or permanent disability within 12 months of its occurrence, INA Chief Nizar Kochery and National Insurance Company Limited Manager, Marketing, K C Haridas today told reporters here.
The scheme has a nominal premium of Rs 60 for insurance cover of Rs one lakh.
The scheme was launched in Qatar by the Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Dr George Joseph. The scheme has been well received there with more than 7000 Indian workers employed in various companies getting enrolled, Nizar said.
The scheme is beneficial and affordable to the labourers working in different sectors in the Gulf countries, he said.
