What is Muhurat trading?

The session marks the beginning of a new Hindu calendar year called ‘Samvat’ and it is believed that muhurat trading brings prosperity and wealth throughout the year.

This year the Muhurat trading session was conducted on 27 October between 6:15pm and 7:15 pm.
1. Muhurat trading is a special trading session in the Indian stock market on the occasion of Diwali.

2. Both the BSE and the NSE conduct about a one-hour trading session which is typically held in the evening of Diwali day at an auspicious time.

3. The session marks the beginning of a new Hindu calendar year called ‘Samvat’ and it is believed that muhurat trading brings prosperity and wealth throughout the year.


4. There is a bias towards buy orders rather than sell orders hence, markets have generally ended on a positive note on this day.

5. This year the Muhurat trading session was conducted on 27 October between 6:15pm and 7:15 pm.
