What is an NRE FD
Non-Resident (External) Account can only be opened in the name of NRI individuals – single/joint. Interest earned on NRE FDs is tax-free in India, and the principal amount and interest are fully repatriable. NRE FDs also offer higher interest rates than a typical savings account.

SBI NRE FD rates
SBI offers NRE FD rates between 6.80% to 7.25% (Amrit Vrishti) for tenure ranging from 1 year to 10 years for amounts less than Rs 3 crore. NRE term deposit with effect from 15th July, 2024. No interest is paid if the deposit is withdrawn before one year. The rates are applicable from July 15, 2024.

The minimum tenor for NRE Deposit is 1 Year. The interest rate ranges from 6.60% to 7.40% for tenure from 1 year to 10 years. The rates are effective from July 24, 2024. Note that senior citizen rates do not apply to NRIs and minimum tenor for NRE Deposit is 1 Year.
