The Kochi-based Graceland Foundation has launched a ‘ retirement community project’ for people who are aged above 55 years. The Rs 24 crore project coming up at Mulanthuruthy, 20 kms from here promises the company of like-minded people for senior citizens to do away with loneliness. It also promises luxurious living comforts and great ambience.
The project in 4 acres will have 80 fully furnished, two room villa type units, 14,000 sq ft club area, centralised kitchen, theatre, library etc. The centre offers sub staff for the upkeep of facilities, nursing support and doctor on call, promoters George John and Jacob Thomas said here.
Most of the existing retirement/old age homes offer just ‘bed, bath and 3 meals per day’, they pointed out. Life in such old age homes are marked by limited freedom of choice and loneliness, they said.
However, Graceland is introducing the concept of community living for aged people, they added. The membership fee for life long stay in the retirement community is fully refundable. The members will have to pay fee for food and other services.
