How to update these 6 mandatory KYC details in your Zerodha demat, trading account

KYC compliance for demat and trading accounts has been extended until June 2022. This means that holders of demat and trading accounts must update their KYC information before the deadline, or their accounts could be suspended

The deadline for completing KYC compliance for demat and trading accounts has been extended to June, 2022 (from March 31, 2022). This means demat, trading account holders must update their KYC details before the deadline else it may lead to suspension of account as per an NSDL circular.

As per the NSDL circular, “NSDL vide its Circular No. NSDL/POLICY/2022/041 dated March 25, 2022 informed about the procedure for suspension of demat accounts in case of non-compliance with 6 KYC attributes. Based on the discussion held with other MIIs and SEBI, it is decided to give a one-time extension for existing demat accounts till June 30, 2022."

Zerodha and many other brokerages are sending emails requesting to submit the six mandatory KYC details and update trading and demat account's income range.

According to the Zerodha website, “Your account will be marked dormant or inactive if you have not updated your income range in the last 12 months. You can update your latest income slab by visiting the Re-KYC page on our website.”
Here is how one can update 6 KYC details in Zerodha
Step 1: Login with your Kite login credentials
Step 2: Under personal details, you will see your existing KYC details(Contact details, address, etc.). If there aren't any changes, then you can click on 'Proceed with the same details`
. If you need to make any changes to your account information, such as a change of address or a mistake in your name, you can select to amend the information using your Aadhaar number. You will be forwarded to the Digilocker page to retrieve your Aadhaar details in this case.
Step 3: It will take you to the FATCA page, where you must input your tax residency, income bracket, and personal information.
Step 4: Webcam IPV- Finish the brief in-person verification using your computer's webcam or front camera (Mobile). A brief video will be accepted on the page.

This completes the update process for your KYC. The agency will double-check the information within 48 hours.
A demat, trading account holder is required to update the following KYC attributes:
a) Name
b) Address
c) PAN
d) Valid mobile number

f) Income range

According to the new extended timeline, account users who have not updated their KYC details yet have an additional three months to avoid having their demat and trading accounts terminated.
