How to reset or change your EPF UAN password?

With the introduction of the Universal Account Number (UAN), processes such as EPF withdrawal, adding nomination to one's EPF, applying for a loan against PF etc., have become much easier and more accessible to EPF members. UAN is 12-digit number provided to each member of EPFO.

When a UAN is properly seeded with KYC information, the member is able to access a variety of online services without the involvement of the employer. To avail any of the services provided by the EPF, one has to login the Members sewa portal. If you have forgotten your password or want to reset, here is the process.

UAN password
The password must be at least 7 characters long and no more than 20 characters long. A minimum of four alphabets, two digits, and one special character must be included in this password. At least one capital and one small letter should be used in each of the four alphabets.

How to reset or change your EPF UAN password
Follow the steps if you have forgotten your UAN password and want to reset it using your phone number, as well as how to change your UAN password without using your phone number.
Step 1: Visit the EPFO's official website or https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
Step 2: Click on the link 'Forgot Password'
Step 3: Enter your UAN number and captcha that is generated.
Step 4: Enter details and click on 'Submit' tab
Note: The phone number associated with your UAN will be shown. If you want to change your phone number, click the button and enter details and verify.
Step 5: Enter your personal details like your name, DoB, gender, KYC type, and also the document number.
Step 6: Click on the 'Verify' tab
Step 7: Once the details match, you will be sent an OTP
Step 8: Enter your custom password twice and click on 'Submit'
You will receive a message stating that your password had been successfully changed.

How to change password after login?
Step 1: Login into UAN Portal - https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Step 2: In homepage, click on 'Account settings'
Step 3: Enter your old password and then enter the new password and click on 'Update' tab
Step 4: Click 'OK' to confirm the need to change the password

Your new password will be accepted, and you will get this message on the screen: 'Password updated successfully'.
