Should you buy?
The fund has an impressive long term track record, but has faltered slightly in the past few years. Having mostly outperformed its category since 2010, the fund’s return profile has slipped in the last two years. This is partly due to its heavy large-cap tilt, even as several peers have favoured mid-caps. While biased towards growth picks, the fund managers are comfortable taking contrarian calls in sectors and focused bets in select stocks, as evidenced by the fund's overweight position in healthcare and large exposure to HDFC Bank. The portfolio has been pruned compared to two years ago. Although it has underwhelmed of late, its track record under its skilled fund managers should provide comfort to investors willing to invest for the long haul.
