EPF e-nomination: 3 benefits of filing e-nomination

Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) members should make sure to file their nomination to avail various benefits. EPF members can also make changes to their nominations online. An EPF member does not need to request this from their employer; instead, they can update their EPF nominations online through the EPFO UAN portal.

Here are three three benefits of filing an e-nomination in one’s EPF account, according an EPFO tweet:

1. Online claim settlement upon the death of member

2. Online payment of PF, Pension and Insurance (upto Rs 7 lakh) to eligible nominees
3. Paperless and speedy claim settlement

In order to receive Provident Fund (PF), Pension (EPS), and Insurance (EDLI) benefits, nomination should be done in one’s EPF account.


How to file e-nomination for EPF/EPS digitally
Step 1: Visit the official EPFO website at epfindia.gov.in
Step 2: Login with UAN and password
Step 3: Select 'E-nomination' under ' Manage Tab'
Step 4: Next 'Provide Details' tab and one has to click on 'Save'
Step 5: Click 'Yes' to update family declaration. Enter all the details such as
a) Aadhaar
b) Name
c) Date of birth
d) Gender
e) Relation
f) Address
g) Bank account details (Optional)
h) Guardian
i) Photo. Remember the photograph size cannot exceed 100 KB.
Step 6: Click 'Add Family Details'.
Note that more than one nominee can be added
Step 7: Click 'Nomination Details' and click on 'Save EPF Nomination'
Step 8: To generate an OTP, click 'E-sign' and send it to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
