The price of gold in Dubai is set by several factors, including global prices, the exchange rate and local demand. As such, the gold price in Dubai can fluctuate based on a range of economic and geopolitical factors.
How much gold can you get from Dubai?
Indian residents and tourists staying abroad for over a year can bring duty-free gold jewellery from Dubai: up to 40 grams for females and up to 20 grams for males, without a specific value cap. Beyond these limits, passengers can carry up to 1 kg of gold, subject to applicable customs duties.Suraj Nangia, founder, Nangia Global, told ET Wealth Online that duty-free allowance applies only to jewellery, while gold bars and coins attract customs duty from the first gram.
However, beyond the duty-free jewellery limit of up to 40g, a traveller can carry up to 1 kilogram of gold in total, subject to applicable customs duties, explains Nangia.
Is gold cheaper in Dubai?
Nangia explains that since Dubai doesn’t impose import duties and GST on bullion, gold in the city is typically 5–7% cheaper than in India. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
