1.SSY account can be opened in the name of a girl child till she attains the age of 10. It is allowed only for two female children, and a third child only in case of twin girls during a second birth or triplets in the fi rst birth.
2.A minimum deposit of Rs.250 and a maximum deposit of Rs.1.5 lakh in a financial year.
3.The money invested is eligible for Section 80 C deduction.
4.Maturity is on completion of a period of 21 years from the date of opening of account.
5.The current rate of interest is 7.6% per annum, calculated on a yearly basis and compounded annually.
