24K, 22K gold price today in Chennai: Following US President Donald Trump's direction to military forces to initiate a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, prices of precious metals gold and silver declined on Monday (April 13, 2026), with futures of both metals slipping on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) of India.

In India, gold futures dropped by Rs 602 to Rs 1,52,050 per 10 grams. Latest prices of the yellow metal at leading jewellery retailers like Tanishq, Kalyan Jewellers, Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds also showed a drop as of 01:30 pm today.

A similar trend was witnessed on daily spot gold prices updated by the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd (IBJA). The indicative AM retail selling rates shared by IBJA shows fine gold (999 purity) priced at Rs 15,008 per gram, 22 carat gold at Rs 14,648 per gram, 20 carat gold at Rs 13,357 per gram, 18 carat gold at Rs 12,157 per gram and 14 carat at Rs 9,680 per gram.

Gold prices in Chennai today (April 13, 2026)

In Chennai too, gold prices were slightly down on Monday in line with the global trend. As per the prices quoted by leading jewellery retailers in the city, the price of 24 karat gold was around Rs 15,257 per gram, while 22 karat gold was largely priced between Rs 13,975 to Rs 14,060 per gram.
