Top 10 Life insurance companies with highest complaints in 2026, as per Insurance Ombudsman Report 2024-25

The Council of Insurance Ombudsman (CIO), through its Annual Report for FY 2024–25, has highlighted the life insurance companies that received the largest number of complaints during the financial year 2024-25.

Bharti AXA Life Insurance Company takes the lead with 2,770 complaints received during the year, followed by LIC of India with 1,951 complaints during FY 2024-25, according to the CIO annual report. Given its massive policyholder base, the number of complaints is comparatively low when viewed against the company’s size and reach.

Among the top 10 life insurance companies, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company, at 555, received the lowest number of complaints during the period.

Bharti AXA Life Insurance Co. Ltd. reported the highest number of outstanding complaints during the year at 503, followed by LIC of India with 184 outstanding complaints, and HDFC Life Insurance Co. Ltd. with 174 outstanding complaints. Among the top 10 life insurance companies, Edelweiss Life Insurance Company recorded the lowest number of total outstanding complaints during the period, at 87.
