The higher the proportion of claims paid within a month, the faster the insurer has been in releasing claim payouts, an advantage for the insured. According to data from ILM Research (previously known as Beshak Research), 15 of 31 non-life insurers paid out over 95% of their approved health claims (including cashless hospitalisation claims, where the insured does not have to pay out of pocket) within a month in financial year 2025-26, while the rest were slower.
The data is taken from NL-39, insurer public disclosures (2025-26). Note: Claims ageing is calculated as the number of health insurance claims paid within the specified time frame divided by the total health insurance claims paid during the financial year. The parameter measures the time taken to settle approved claims; it does not indicate the proportion of claims settled out of the total claims received during the year. The three-year average is calculated using data from 2023–24, 2024–25 and 2025–26. The three-year average is not available for Galaxy Health Insurance and Narayana Health Insurance as their data for 2023–24 is unavailable.
