Vodafone Idea ups 4G network capacity using 900 Mhz spectrum, small cells in Delhi-NCR

Vodafone Idea said that it has further enhanced network capacity in Delhi-NCR by deploying 900 MHz spectrum band on 2300 4G sites to support the growing data demand during the national lockdown due to Covid pandemic.

UK's Vodafone Group Plc. entered India in 2007 after it bought a majority stake in Hutchison Essar, erstwhile Hutchison Max Telecom Ltd (HMTL). While Idea was incorporated in the year 1995 with the name Birla Communications Ltd. The company came to be named as Idea Cellular Ltd in the year 2002. Subsequently in 2006 it became a part of the Aditya Birla Group.

NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea said that it has further enhanced network capacity in Delhi-NCR by deploying 900 MHz spectrum band on 2300 4G sites to support the growing data demand during the national lockdown due to Covid pandemic.

Vodafone Idea has also deployed over 2100+ small cells in Delhi NCR for improving experience in congested areas within the city such as Govindpuri, Gandhi Nagar and Lakshmi Nagar.

Deployment of 900 MHz on 2300 sites will help facilitate better indoor network experience, besides enhancing data speeds for Vodafone Idea customers in Delhi NCR, the telco said,


Vodafone Idea had earlier deployed over 2000 ma-MIMO installations in Delhi & NCR which is by far the highest by any operator in the region, the company claimed.

The telco said that the network upgradation has resulted in better customer experience, which was validated by Ookla and OpenSignal.
