Who is Sean Mannion? Eagles hire Packers QB coach as new offensive coordinator
The Philadelphia Eagles have hired 33-year-old Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator. Mannion, a former NFL quarterback with two seasons of coaching experience with the Green Bay Packers, is tasked with revitalizing the Eagles' offense. ...

Despite his limited time on the sidelines, Mannion is viewed as a fast-rising coach with a strong understanding of modern offensive systems. A former NFL quarterback himself, he now takes on a major responsibility in Philadelphia, where he will be tasked with shaping the Eagles’ offense and working closely with the team’s quarterbacks as the franchise looks to rebound and improve its offensive consistency.
"It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league. I was impressed by his systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said in a statement.
"Sean's 11 years in the NFL have provided him a great opportunity to learn from and grow alongside some of the best coaches in the game. As a result, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable to our team moving forward," Sirianni added.
According to ESPN, The move ends a lengthy search for a new offensive coordinator that began soon after Kevin Patullo was dismissed on January 13. Early in the process, the Eagles focused on proven, veteran playcallers to fill the role. However, their top targets ultimately slipped away, as Mike McDaniel chose to join the Los Angeles Chargers and Brian Daboll decided to take the job with the Tennessee Titans. After those options came off the board, Philadelphia shifted direction, leading to the decision to hire Mannion and conclude the coordinator search.
Sean Mannion, 33, is a former NFL quarterback who was selected in the third round of the 2015 draft out of Oregon State. He spent nine seasons in the league, primarily in a backup role with the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, and Seattle Seahawks. Mannion remained an active player as recently as 2023, appearing on rosters for both the Vikings and Seahawks, before stepping away from playing and transitioning into coaching.
The Eagles’ offense struggled last season, and Mannion is seen as a rising young coach tasked with revitalizing it under head coach Sirianni’s direction. According to ESPN, Mannion worked closely last season with Jordan Love, who posted a strong year by completing 66 percent of his passes for 3,381 yards, throwing 23 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
