The UFC’s announcement about hosting a future fight card at the White House was overshadowed Friday by a chaotic scene involving heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit during the UFC Freedom 250 press conference in Newark. The media event, held ahead of UFC 328 on Saturday, featured all 14 fighters scheduled for the upcoming Washington card. However, Hokit quickly became the center of attention with an over-the-top performance that disrupted the event.

Wearing a black robe along with sunglasses, an American flag bandana, and matching gloves, the undefeated heavyweight repeatedly grabbed the microphone and delivered loud, wrestling-style trash talk aimed at several fighters, including Derrick Lewis, Alex Pereira, and Ilia Topuria. Hokit’s comments grew increasingly offensive, with several insults directed at fellow competitors.



While most fighters ignored the outburst, Topuria eventually reacted after stepping up in support of Pereira, who appeared confused by the exchange due to the language barrier. The tense moment escalated when Topuria tossed a small object toward Hokit, prompting UFC security to quickly intervene and escort the California fighter out of the venue.

Before the incident, Hokit had been gaining momentum inside the octagon. The former college football player and wrestler improved his MMA record to 9-0 after defeating Curtis Blaydes by unanimous decision at UFC 327 last month.

During another heated moment at the press conference, Dana White had to briefly intervene when Mauricio Ruffy moved his fist close to Michael Chandler’s face during an intense staredown. Despite the brief tension, the rest of the fighter faceoffs wrapped up without major incidents.
