At his introductory press conference, Hodgson went viral after joking that his recruiting skills were evident from his relationship.
"If you ever wanna question my recruiting abilities just look at my wife Jordan," he said.
Hodgson replaces Kim English, who was dismissed on March 13 following three seasons. The Friars ended the 2025-26 campaign at 15-18 (7-13 Big East), after going 21-14 in English’s first year and 12-20 in his second.
At 38, Hodgson guided the American Athletic Conference champion South Florida Bulls to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012. Entering as the No. 11 seed in the East Region, the Bulls were eliminated in the first round by No. 6 seed Louisville on Thursday.

Bryan Hodgson got engaged to Jordan Norris in 2023, beginning a new chapter in their personal life, reported Yahoo Sports. Norris, a native of Buffalo, New York, later moved south to attend the University of Alabama, where she completed her degree in 2021.
The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Jett, in 2024. With her Buffalo roots, Norris is known to support the Buffalo Bills and often attends games during the college basketball offseason.
Hodgson, Norris, and their son traveled to Rhode Island together on Tuesday, marking a family moment as he was officially introduced as the new head coach at Providence.
Previously, Hodgson served as an assistant coach at Buffalo from 2015 to 2019 and at Alabama from 2019 to 2023, where he was one of Nate Oats’ top assistants.
