Former AAA and WWE superstar Del Rio was reportedly detained in San Luis Potosi following allegations of domestic violence. According to Merca2.0, emergency services were contacted via a 911 call from his partner, who accused him of physical assault. Authorities responding to the scene allegedly found visible injuries on the woman, leading to his immediate detention. According to some reports, officers arrived while the incident was still unfolding, enabling them to apprehend the wrestler on-site.
The case is currently being handled by the San Luis Potosi State Attorney General’s Office, which is investigating the circumstances to determine any criminal responsibility, reported Merca 2.0. Officials have not yet confirmed whether formal charges will be filed or clarified his legal status, including whether he will remain in custody or be released pending further proceedings.
Del Rio faced serious legal trouble back in 2021, with charges of sexual assault and kidnapping filed against him. The case, however, was eventually dropped after a key witness reportedly went missing just days before the trial was set to begin.
Del Rio has also been involved in several controversies throughout his career, including incidents involving his temper. During a recent stint with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, as reported by Sports Illustrated, he was suspended from competing in Tijuana for six months after allegedly throwing a chair at a fan seated near the ring.
That same year, Del Rio achieved another rare milestone by winning both the Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank ladder match - becoming the first wrestler ever to accomplish both feats in a single year.
