Junior utility player Justin Ford suffered a severe leg injury while rounding the bases after hitting a two-run home run against Boston College in the Puerto Rico Challenge on Friday(February 13).

Seton Hall’s Justin Ford hit a two-run homer to give the Pirates a 4-3 lead over Boston College, but suffered a serious injury rounding first base. Ford collapsed between first and second base and was replaced by a pinch runner, who completed his home run trot. Celebration turned to shock as Ford landed awkwardly on his left ankle, suffering a fracture that will end his 2026 season.

Who is Justin Ford?


Justin Ford, a native of Roxbury, New Jersey, is a college baseball player for the Seton Hall Pirates, a Division I NCAA program. A standout at Roxbury High School, he had started to make his mark on the team, showcasing his offensive potential before an injury prematurely ended his 2026 season.

According to Albat website, medical staff rushed to Ford’s aid, taking him off on a stretcher while a pinch runner completed his home run, but Seton Hall ultimately fell 6-4 to Boston College.

According to the USA Today website, a Seton Hall spokesperson said that as of Saturday, Feb. 14, Ford was in good spirits, though no further updates on his condition were available.

"Ford injured himself while rounding the bases," Seton Hall's baseball X account said."Please join us in sending Justin best wishes and a speedy recovery."

Boston College ultimately defeated Seton Hall 6-4, with Ford’s home run accounting for all of the Pirates’ runs. Ford, a junior in his third year with Seton Hall, hit .171 with 14 hits and seven RBIs in 17 games last season, after limited action in 2024.
