Authorities said the 28-year-old faces five charges, including battery-domestic abuse, criminal damage to property-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, intimidation of a victim, and felony strangulation and suffocation. Jacobs was booked into the Brown County Jail after police responded to what officials described as a “disturbance complaint” on Saturday morning.
Police investigation remains active
According to a statement from Hobart-Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:37 a.m. Saturday in connection with the incident involving Jacobs. Law enforcement officials said the investigation remains ongoing and that no additional information would be released at this stage.
The felony strangulation and suffocation charge is considered the most serious allegation among the five counts Jacobs currently faces. Under Wisconsin law, strangulation and suffocation can be prosecuted as a Class H felony.
No court appearance details or additional information about the alleged victim had been publicly released as of Tuesday night.
Jacobs denies allegations through attorneys
Jacobs’ legal team issued a statement denying the accusations and urging restraint while the judicial process unfolds. Attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac said the player “vehemently denies the allegations” and argued that important evidence has not yet been made public.
The statement emphasized that the matter is still in its early investigative stages and asked for fairness as the case proceeds through the legal system.
Packers and NFL response
The Packers acknowledged awareness of the arrest but declined to comment further because of the ongoing legal situation. The NFL also confirmed it had been in contact with the organization regarding the matter.
The arrest comes at the start of the Packers’ organized team activities and places renewed scrutiny on one of the franchise’s most important offensive players entering the 2026 season.
Josh Jacobs’ NFL career and Packers role
Jacobs entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after being selected by the Oakland Raiders franchise. He spent five seasons with the Raiders before signing a four-year, $48 million contract with Green Bay ahead of the 2024 season.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection and the NFL’s rushing leader in 2022, Jacobs has been one of the league’s more productive running backs during his career. Reuters reported that he has accumulated 7,803 rushing yards and 74 touchdowns across seven NFL seasons.
Last season, Jacobs remained a central part of Green Bay’s offense, recording 929 rushing yards and 14 total touchdowns in 15 games, according to NY Post.
