'Pac' dead at 40: How did All Elite Wrestling star and former WWE wrestler Benjamin Satterley die?

Benjamin Satterley, the pro wrestling star widely known as Pac, has died at the age of 40 years, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) announced on Sunday night (September 27) in a post on social media and its website. The announcement came just hours after Pac competed against Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship in the opening match at All Out.

"All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac," the wrestling promotion said. "A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability."

Pac signed with AEW in 2019

Pac was one of the first wrestlers to sign with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple championships, competing in some of the biggest matches in the history of the wrestling promotion. "Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends and fans," the AEW said. Pac's cause of death was not known at the time of writing this report.


Pac gained prominence as he rose up the international circuit during the 2000s, competing for various British and American promotions. Before signing with the AEW, Pac was with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and known as Adrian Neville. Pac had signed with the WWE in 2012, becoming a top star on WWE NXT and winning the NXT championship.

Pac was also a two-time NXT tag team champion. He was the only two-time WWE cruiserweight champion in history and the company's longest-reigning cruiserweight champion of all time.

AEW rocked by tragedy

During his time at the AEW, Pac won the promotion's All-Atlantic Championship (now called the AEW International Championship) and and the Trios Championship alongside Penta and Rey Fenix. AEW has been rocked by several tragedies this year, with the sudden death of former star Andy "The Butcher" Williams and the announcement of Tanea "Rebel" Brooks' ALS diagnosis.
