While the historic vote total made headlines, Stafford’s acceptance speech quickly became the bigger story. Long surrounded by speculation about his future, the veteran quarterback used the moment to provide clarity. By closing his speech with the words, “I’ll see you next year,” Stafford confirmed he will return for the 2026 season, ending any talk of retirement.
At 38, Stafford showed this past season that age has not slowed him down. When healthy, he remains one of the NFL’s most dangerous passers. He led the league with 4,707 passing yards and 40 touchdowns, guiding the Rams back to the playoffs and all the way to the NFC Championship Game. His performance reestablished Los Angeles as a true contender and reinforced his value to the franchise.
During his speech, Stafford also reflected on his family’s support and looked ahead with excitement to what lies ahead. He specifically mentioned SoFi Stadium, where the Rams will play their home games next season and where Super Bowl 61 is scheduled to be held.
“To my four beautiful daughters who I am lucky enough to be sharing the stage with … I am so happy to have you at the games, on the sideline with me, and I can’t wait for you to cheer me on next year when we’re out there kicking (butt),” Stafford said.
"So, I'll see you guys next year. Hopefully I'm not at this event, and we're getting ready for another game at SoFi (Stadium, where Super Bowl 61 will be held)."
