Knicks pull off stunning comeback against Spurs in Game 4, one win from NBA title

The New York Knicks produced a comeback for the ages on Wednesday night, erasing a massive deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The dramatic victory gave New York a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series and moved the franchise within one win of its first NBA championship since 1973. The Knicks appeared headed for defeat after falling behind by as many as 29 points during a dominant Spurs performance. San Antonio controlled the opening half, shooting efficiently and building a 76-49 lead by halftime. Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell led the charge early, helping the Spurs overwhelm New York on both ends of the floor.


The turning point arrived midway through the third quarter when Wembanyama was assessed a flagrant foul on Karl-Anthony Towns. The incident sparked life into the Knicks, who responded with a 13-0 run and began steadily chipping away at the deficit. Even after trailing 95-75 early in the fourth quarter, New York refused to quit. Jose Alvarado ignited the rally with a crucial three-pointer before teaming up with Jalen Brunson to bring the Knicks back within striking distance. Brunson eventually gave New York its first lead of the game with a clutch floater in the closing minute.



San Antonio briefly regained the advantage when Stephon Castle converted two free throws with just over 30 seconds remaining. However, the Knicks had one final answer. After an empty possession and a key defensive stop by OG Anunoby, New York earned one last opportunity. Brunson's long-range attempt missed the mark, but Anunoby crashed the boards and tipped the ball into the basket with only 1.2 seconds left on the clock. The Spurs were unable to get a shot off before time expired, sending Madison Square Garden into celebration.


Brunson led the Knicks with 36 points and seven assists, while Anunoby delivered 33 points, including the game-winning basket. Towns added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.


For San Antonio, Wembanyama finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Dylan Harper contributed 21 points off the bench. Despite their strong start, the Spurs now face elimination as the series shifts back to San Antonio for Game 5.
