Is Serena Williams planning a Wimbledon comeback? Novak Djokovic drops big hint on the American star’s much-awaited return
Speculation about Serena Williams' return to tennis has intensified following Novak Djokovic's comments suggesting Wimbledon as an ideal comeback venue. The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who last competed in 2022, has fueled comeback rumors by re-e...

The 44-year-old American, who is a seven-time Wimbledon singles champion, has not competed since the US Open in 2022, when she said she was 'evolving away from tennis'. However, the 44-year-old mother of two reignited comeback speculation last year by re-entering the sport’s anti-doping testing pool, a move that suggested she could be keeping the door open for a potential return to competitive action.
"I think she's coming back. I don't know. I haven't spoken to her, but I guess the sentiment is that she's coming back," Djokovic told reporters, as quoted by Reuters, on Wednesday at Indian Wells.
"I pick that one (Wimbledon) as well as her comeback, but yeah, I don't know. I think she might maybe play a doubles tournament or two with Venus. That would be nice to see, just from my point of view and for tennis fans."
Djokovic added that seeing one of the sport’s most dominant figures return to competition would be a welcome and exciting sight for tennis fans around the world.
According to Reuters, Serena's former coach, Rick Macci, has also weighed in on the speculation, saying her intense and impressive training routine suggests she could be gearing up for a comeback.
Serena's sister Venus Williams, 45, accepted a wild card into the Indian Wells singles draw and is set to face France’s Diane Parry in the first round.
