American mixed martial artist Dillon Danis weighed in on the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show and slammed Jake Paul for calling on viewers to boycott the performance. Danis, who has a long-running rivalry with the Paul brothers, responded after Jake Paul publicly objected to the NFL’s decision to feature the Puerto Rican artist during the halftime show. Paul had urged fans to turn off the broadcast, accusing Bad Bunny of being ‘fake American.’

“Purposefully turning off the halftime show. Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences. [which equals viewership for them] You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing, who publicly hates America. I cannot support that,” Paul wrote on X.

Danis quickly pushed back, pointing out what he described as hypocrisy in Paul’s remarks. Responding on social media, Danis wrote: “He reps Puerto Rico every fight, and as soon as a Puerto Rican artist gets their shine, Jake starts hating.”

In a separate post, Danis expanded on his criticism, explaining his view on why Paul lives in Puerto Rico and rejecting claims that the issue was political.

“This has nothing to do with Trump or being anti-American. It’s just funny watching Jake cosplay as ultra-patriotic for clout, call Bad Bunny a ‘fake American’ for being born in Puerto Rico, while he literally lives in Puerto Rico to avoid paying U.S. taxes,” Danis wrote.

Jake Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, also earlier distanced himself from the boycott and voiced support for Puerto Rican representation on the Super Bowl stage.

“I love my brother but I don’t agree with this

Puerto Ricans are Americans & I’m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island,” Logan wrote on Twitter.

Separately, Danis also drew attention earlier in the Super Bowl weekend for a social media wager tied to the game’s outcome. He had promised to give away $3,000 to one user if the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks.

“If the New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks I’ll give one person who likes this tweet $3,000,” Danis had posted.

The wager ultimately went unclaimed after the Seahawks dominated the Patriots 29–13, holding New England scoreless through the first three quarters.
