Detroit have now won five consecutive playoff games after nearly facing elimination against Orlando in the opening round. The series now shifts to Cleveland for Game 3 on Saturday. For Cleveland, Donovan Mitchell tried to keep his team in the contest with 31 points. Jarrett Allen bounced back strongly from a quiet Game 1, finishing with 22 points and seven rebounds.
However, the Cavaliers struggled badly from long range in the final quarter, missing all 11 of their 3-point attempts. Max Strus, who starred in the series opener, managed only three points and missed four attempts from beyond the arc in the closing period.
James Harden also endured a difficult outing. He scored only 10 points after making just three of his 13 shots and committed four turnovers, including a costly late mistake with less than a minute remaining.
The Cavaliers briefly grabbed the lead early in the fourth quarter after a dunk by Evan Mobley made it 81-79. But Detroit quickly answered with strong defense and timely shooting.
Robinson hit a crucial go-ahead three-pointer midway through the quarter, and Cunningham later buried another deep shot with just over two minutes left to seal the win and give the Pistons full control of the series.
