A clutch three-pointer from Hart in the final seconds sealed the result after Boston had cut the deficit to three.
Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds for New York, which remains in contention for a higher playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. For Boston, Jayson Tatum recorded 24 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists, while Payton Pritchard chipped in 23.
The Boston Celtics, who face the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, were without leading scorer Jaylen Brown, sidelined due to left Achilles tendinitis. Brown came into the game averaging 28.8 points, seven rebounds, and 5.2 assists per contest this season.
Both teams traded momentum early, with each building leads of up to seven points in the first quarter before Boston edged ahead 29-26. The New York Knicks responded with a 10-0 surge in the second quarter to take a 33-29 lead and carried a narrow 54-53 advantage into halftime.

With Tatum expected to sit out the next game for Achilles management, the rookie wing could see an expanded role as Boston looks to secure the No. 2 seed against the New Orleans Pelicans.
