Amid the action on the pitch, the stands once again provided a spectacle of their own, with fans from across the world bringing color, culture, and energy to the host cities.
Scotland vs. Haiti
At Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Scotland secured a crucial 1-0 win over Haiti thanks to a first-half strike from John McGinn. The Aston Villa midfielder scored in the 28th minute, giving Steve Clarke's side a winning start in their first World Cup appearance since 1998. The result also marked Scotland's first World Cup victory in 36 years and placed them at the top of Group C after Brazil and Morocco played out a draw earlier in the day.

Thousands of supporters dressed in kilts, tartan scarves, and traditional Scottish attire filled the stands, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the match.

Australia vs. Türkiye
Later in the day, BC Place in Vancouver hosted one of the tournament's biggest surprises so far. Australia defeated Türkiye 2-0 despite spending much of the match without possession.

Teenage sensation Nestory Irankunda opened the scoring on a swift counterattack before Connor Metcalfe doubled Australia's lead in the second half. Remarkably, Türkiye dominated possession with 78% of the ball and recorded 30 shots, yet the Socceroos' disciplined defensive display and impressive goalkeeping ensured a famous victory.
