Speaking with NewsNation on April 5, Coffindaffer, on the report that McCasland left key items like his eyeglasses and cellular device but did not take his gun and identification, said, "When I look at that, his age, and also some of the physical situation he was dealing with, I truly believe he left in this situation not to be found again."
Coffindaffer rejects foul play
When asked if anyone who may have held related classified information could be under any sort of threat, with such information expected to soon be made public, Coffindaffer replied: "I don’t believe so at all."
She added, "No one took him, I do not believe based on the facts and circumstances," reiterating that in her opinion, McCasland left of his own free will.
Coincidentally, his wife, Susan McCasland Wilkerson, also reportedly said the same thing during her 911 call after his disappearance. As per the call, “My husband is missing. It’s been about three hours, and I have some indication that he must have planned not to be found,” she told a 911 dispatcher in audio obtained by the Law&Crime Network.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office released a detailed timeline about the disappearance, stating that William “Neil” McCasland was “last known to have been at or near his residence in the area of Quail Run Court NE on the morning of Friday, February 27, 2026. A Silver Alert remains in effect, and Mr. McCasland remains missing.”
UFO speculation on William Neil McCasland’s disappearance
McCasland's disappearance has brought speculation in UFO circles, which have suggested it may be connected to his work. The case has also caught congressional attention, with Republican Representative Eric Burlison suggesting McCasland has "a lot of information" on UFOs.
However, Wilkerson has pushed back against this claim and his "brief association with the UFO community."
In a Facebook statement on March 6 to address "misinformation" about her husband's case, she wrote: "Neil does not have any special knowledge about the ET bodies and debris from the Roswell crash stored at Wright-Patt," she wrote on social media.
