Who is Erling Haaland's girlfriend? Isabel Haugseng Johansen once played for the same soccer club as the Norwegian striker

Norwegian soccer star Erling Haaland is known for his goal-scoring exploits on the field, but away from the spotlight, he shares a long-term relationship with Isabel Haugseng Johansen, a former soccer player from his hometown.

The couple, who have been dating since at least 2021, grew up in the same Norwegian town and played for the same soccer club, Bryne FK. Although they knew each other as children, their relationship began years later.

During a September 2025 appearance on Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Haaland revealed that Johansen made the first move. "She sent me a message. She played in the same club as me, Bryne,” he said, per Goal.com. “She was the one who checked me out. I wasn't the one who checked her out."


In an October 2025 YouTube video, Haaland explained that while Johansen remembers seeing him during their younger years, his memories are less clear. “She remembers many times that she's been seeing me when we were younger, but I don't,” he said.

Johansen, meanwhile, said she believes it was “fate” for them to meet.

Like Haaland, Johansen has a background in soccer and previously played for Bryne FK. In the couple's October 2025 YouTube video, Johansen reflected on her playing days. “To be honest, I wasn't the best with dribbling and stuff. I was more with speed. I was running,” she said. “I miss it a lot.”

Haaland has also spoken about how their shared understanding of the game has strengthened their relationship. “She played football. We met and all of that. It's nice because you understand football,” he said.

The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in December 2024. Haaland first announced they were expecting a baby in October 2024, posting a photo on X in which he mimicked a baby bump with a soccer ball. The post was captioned with a baby emoji and the word “soon.”

Life away from soccer

Despite Haaland's global fame, the couple prefers a quiet lifestyle away from the public eye.

Speaking to NRK in September 2025, the Manchester City striker shared details about how they spend time together at home. "I cook. This will probably sound a bit embarrassing to her, but she likes to play [games],” he said, per Goal.com. “So we play Minecraft together. We build houses and all that. Or we go home to Bryne and order kebabs."

Johansen is frequently seen supporting Haaland during matches, but the couple largely keeps their relationship out of the spotlight.
