Unbothered by the mayhem and a security guard at a distance with a gun, the surreal moment shared by multiple social media accounts reportedly happened Saturday night, April 25 during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, followed by a shooting incident at the Washington Hilton, triggering panic among thousands of attendees and a rapid security response.
Armed officers swept through the room after what officials later confirmed was a shooting incident involving a suspect who attempted to breach security.
Trump, Melania, Cabinet members, and other federal officials attending the high-profile event were safely evacuated. Later, multiple media outlets, including The New York Times, CBS, and The Associated Press, reported that Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, is in custody in connection with the shooting, citing anonymous law enforcement officials.
