GAS Prices Today April 3, 2026: Fuel prices climbed across the United States as surging crude oil costs, driven in part by the ongoing conflict in Iran, continued to squeeze motorists. With the spring season having officially begun on March 20, drivers faced higher expenses at the pump, according to the latest data from AAA Fuel Prices. Analysts warned that relief might be slow to arrive, leaving Americans to navigate the season with rising gasoline bills.

The rise in crude oil has fed directly into retail gasoline prices. As of Friday, April 3, 2026, the national average for a gallon of regular gas climbed to 4.091, up slightly from $4.081 a day earlier (April 2). While the increase may appear modest, it reflects a persistent upward trend that has been steadily squeezing household budgets.

Fuel prices across the United States continue to show significant variation, reflecting regional market conditions and local taxes. California continues to have the highest fuel costs, with drivers paying an astonishing $5.90 per gallon for regular fuel, $6.14 for mid-grade, and over $6.30 for premium. Diesel prices are even steeper, climbing to $7.59, highlighting the ongoing premium on energy on the West Coast.

The coastal and Northeastern states carry the heaviest fuel burden, while central and Southern states like Texas offer comparatively lighter prices at the pump. Drivers traveling across these regions are likely to notice these stark differences firsthand.
