US fighter jet ‘hit’ and crashes in Kuwait, claims Iranian media

A US fighter jet has reportedly crashed in Kuwait, according to Iranian state-owned media, though there has been no immediate confirmation from American or Kuwaiti authorities. The report, published by Press TV, cited the Al-Ahd news network and claimed the aircraft may have been struck before going down.

“An American fighter jet has reportedly crashed in Kuwait. According to the Al-Ahd news network, the aircraft was hit and went down just minutes ago.” Press TV wrote on X on Monday, March 23.



Officials from the United States and Kuwait have not confirmed the incident as of writing and details surrounding the alleged crash remain unclear.

Earlier, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) dismissed several circulating claims that US fighter jets had been shot down by Iran, calling them false. The command stated that US forces have carried out more than 8,000 combat flights as part of Operation Epic Fury, adding that no American fighter aircraft have been downed by Iranian forces.


But the US has suffered multiple aircraft losses since the escalation of conflict. According to a Bloomberg report, at least 16 US military aircraft have been lost since the start of the war, including 10 Reaper drones reportedly hit by enemy fire.

Some of the most serious losses have been attributed to accidents. Three US F-15 jets were reportedly downed by ‘friendly fire’ in Kuwait at the beginning of the month, but there was no casualty. While a KC-135 tanker was destroyed during a refueling operation, resulting in the deaths of all six crew members onboard.
