Police said they do not believe that individual was shot by officers. However, another person was taken to a hospital after being shot by police. Authorities said the individual’s condition has not yet been released.
"I was working on my car, I heard a round of six gunshots go off back to back, and I didn’t think anything of it, I just thought it was fireworks, and then I heard another six, and I came running to the corner and I heard 'Put your hands up', and I just heard one more shot," neighbor Ali Naranjo said as quoted by Arizona News.
According to ABC15, as cited by KTAR NEWS, a family member of the person shot by police said he was 'shot in the face'. The family member also claimed the second person who was shot is their 18-year-old brother, who was wounded in the leg.
Police confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident. Authorities said the investigation into the fight and shooting in west Phoenix is still ongoing.
Arizona News also reported that this was the third police-involved shooting in the Phoenix area and the eighth statewide in Arizona so far in 2026.
