Ohio man charged with homicide in wife's shooting death, police say
An Ohio man has been charged with homicide in the fatal shooting of his wife inside their Tipp City home, a case that initially appeared to be a possible burglary-related shooting. Authorities announced on February 19, 2026, that Caleb Carl Flynn, 39, was arrested and charged in connection with the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn, 37, a respected teacher and middle-school volleyball coach.

The arrest followed several days of investigation after Ashley Flynn was found shot inside the couple’s residence in the 900 block of Cunningham Court.

Police responded around 2:31 am on Monday, February 16, after receiving a 911 call reporting a burglary and a resident who had been shot. When officers arrived, they found Ashley Flynn suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports suggested signs of forced entry, prompting authorities to treat the case as a potential burglary. Law enforcement established a perimeter and deployed K-9 units and drones to search for suspects in the area. However, no outside suspect was located during the immediate response.

Investigators later determined there was probable cause to charge Caleb Flynn. Officials have not publicly detailed the specific evidence that led to his arrest, citing the ongoing nature of the case.

According to law enforcement officials, Caleb Flynn is being held in the Miami County Jail and faces multiple charges, including one count of homicide, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of tampering with evidence.

Authorities stated that the charges stem from findings gathered during a multi-agency investigation involving the Tipp City Police Department, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, and the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) also assisted.

An autopsy was conducted earlier in the week, though detailed findings have not been publicly released.

Ashley Flynn was widely known in the Tipp City community. She served as a substitute teacher for Tipp City Schools, coached seventh-grade girls’ volleyball at Tippecanoe Middle School, and had recently worked with LifeWise Academy, a nonprofit organization providing Bible-based educational programming.
