According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the violence began with a large fight involving multiple individuals near the 44th Street and Broadway in Times Square on Thursday afternoon. The altercation escalated rapidly, resulting in a slashing and the discharge of a firearm. Authorities confirmed that a teenager was taken into custody following the incident.
Police said a second shooting broke out near 45th Street and Eighth Avenue shortly after officers took an individual into custody.
