A former substitute teacher in Texas was arrested after police said she engaged in an improper relationship with a student. The suspect was identified as Angela Palmares. She was arrested following a brief investigation, the Llano County Sheriff's Office said.

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has arrested the substitute teacher following an investigation that began after a report from the Llano Independent School District, officials said. The case came to light on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, when Llano ISD notified authorities of the alleged relationship. The district immediately removed the substitute teacher from its list of available substitutes upon receiving the report.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation. The investigators conducted interviews and gathered evidence that led to the issuance of an arrest warrant, Llano County Sheriff's Office said in a post on Facebook.

LCSO CID conducted surveillance and worked with the Texas Department of Public Safety Fusion Center to locate Palmares, who was believed to be in the Temple area of Bell County. Investigators then coordinated with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Apprehension Unit.

Palmares taken into custody and charged

Palmares was located in Bell County and taken into custody without incident. She has been charged with Improper Relationship between an Educator and a Student, a second-degree felony, the sheriff's office said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials are asking anyone who believes they may be a victim or has information related to the case to contact the Sheriff’s Office and request to speak with an investigator in the Criminal Investigation Division. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
