Texas Kroger Store Shooting: 2 people shot inside store after ‘domestic disturbance’, one arrested as cops launch probe

A shooting erupted inside a Kroger grocery store in the Houston area of Texas on Wednesday afternoon (July 15, 2026), in what authorities believe was the result of a domestic dispute. The incident came to light when deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 responded to reports of an active shooter at the Kroger located at 20355 Cypresswood Drive at approximately 2:50 p.m. local time on July 15, according to an update shared by Constable Mark Herman on social media.

According to Herman, deputies arrived at the scene in less than two minutes and quickly took a suspect into custody, adding that a preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from “a domestic disturbance between both males,” the post said. The male victim was “shot by the suspect in serious condition and was life-flighted from the scene,” it further stated.




The male suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, according to the update. “There is no ongoing threat to the public at this time,” Herman wrote, adding that family violence investigators with the constable’s office are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Appropriate charges will be filed once the investigation is complete, he said.




Earlier in the day, Herman said deputies responded to reports of shots fired inside the store after witnesses reported that a Black male wearing a yellow shirt and black pants had been seen firing a weapon inside the store. A possible suspect was detained, but the investigation remained ongoing as authorities worked to determine the suspect's involvement.

Capt. Juan Flores of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office later told reporters that officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene, ABC News reported.

One of the men walked out of the store after being shot and was transported to a hospital, while the other was found inside the Kroger with multiple gunshot wounds and was also taken to a hospital, ABC News reported. Both men were listed in critical condition Wednesday evening, and no bystanders were injured during the incident, Flores told the outlet.

Responding officers found two men with gunshot wounds at the scene, Capt. Juan Flores of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office told reporters, according to ABC News. One of the victims walked out of the store after being shot and was taken to a hospital, while the other, who was found inside the Kroger with multiple gunshot wounds, was also rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Flores told the outlet that both men remained in critical condition as of Wednesday evening, and no bystanders were injured during the incident.
