Stripper reveals young troops are ‘depressed’ as they ‘deploy next week’ in viral video, OPSEC concerns follow
A viral TikTok video by Charm Daze has spotlighted operational security risks in the US military. Young servicemembers are reportedly sharing sensitive deployment details with the influencer. This raises concerns as such information, even if vague...

In her now widely viewed video, Daze describes a pattern she has noticed among young military personnel at clubs:
“Something I’ve noticed lately is all the military guys are coming in and they’re spending all of their money … they’re kind of depressed … they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re gonna have fun,’ but you can tell something’s off. And then they’re like, ‘We deploy next week.’”
She continued, reflecting on the human side of these interactions:
“A lot of them are really kind, and to see these, like, young guys … coming in and then dancing with them, and then being like, ‘bye,’ and then it’s actually, like making me emotional.”
What is OPSEC and why it matters
Operational security is a formal military discipline designed to protect critical information that could be exploited by adversaries if disclosed. The US Army defines OPSEC as the process of safeguarding unclassified information that could jeopardize personnel, missions, or operations if aggregated or used by hostile actors.
Official guidance from US Army and Department of Defense (DoD) sources stresses that even seemingly innocuous information, including deployment dates, locations or unit statuses, may create security risks when shared publicly or privately outside secure channels. This includes posts to social media and discussions with civilians, whether face-to-face or online.
While some of the public reaction to the viral video mixes humor and criticism, the underlying issue remains serious. As militaries worldwide adapt to a digital era in which information moves at unprecedented speed, the discipline of OPSEC must evolve alongside personal communication habits.
