Anyone who has seen a small increase in their monthly deposits since January can attribute it to the 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA).
The final round of Social Security payments for March is just around the corner, bringing relief to millions of beneficiaries. Payments are typically scheduled based on your birth date. If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any month, you can expect your payment in the last week of March. To qualify, you must be receiving retirement, disability, or survivor benefits through the Social Security Administration (SSA). Make sure your banking details are updated to avoid delays. All other beneficiaries in the monthly payment schedule have already received their payments on earlier dates. Staying informed about your payment date helps you plan your finances better and ensures you receive your benefits on time without any last-minute confusion.

SSA'S FINAL MARCH PAYMENT - DATE AND ELIGIBILITY

The Social Security Administration organizes beneficiaries into three groups based on their birth dates. According to Futbolete, those born between the 1st and 10th are paid on the second Wednesday of each month, those born between the 11th and 20th on the third Wednesday, and those born between the 21st and 31st on the fourth Wednesday.

According to Futbolete, the payment arriving on the 25th actually represents the February 2026 benefit. This is because the SSA follows a one-month delay system, meaning the money deposited this Wednesday reflects last month’s payment, now being credited to your account.

PEOPLE WHO ALREADY GOT PAID IN MARCH FROM SSA

The March payment cycle began early in the month, starting with deposits issued on March 3. This round covered beneficiaries who receive both Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security, as well as those who started collecting benefits before May 1997, reported Futbolete. Payments then followed the usual Wednesday schedule - March 11 for those born between the 1st and 10th, and March 18 for birthdays falling between the 11th and 20th. The final payments are set for Wednesday, March 25, for recipients born between the 21st and 31st.

For SSI recipients expecting a March payment, the funds were actually sent out ahead of time. Since March 1 fell on a Sunday, the Social Security Administration issued those payments on Friday, February 27. According to Futbolete, this shift is a routine adjustment made whenever the first of the month lands on a weekend or holiday. Regular SSI payments will continue as usual on April 1.

COLA BOOST BRINGS MODEST INCREASE TO SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS IN 2026

Anyone who has seen a small increase in their monthly deposits since January can attribute it to the 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that took effect at the beginning of 2026, according to Futbolete. For most retired workers, that means an average increase of about $56 per month, while married couples receiving Social Security are seeing roughly $88 more combined each month.

The exact increase isn’t the same for everyone. It depends on factors like your lifetime earnings, the age at which you started claiming benefits, and the specific type of benefit you receive.
