“Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel said.
While Moore’s coaching career had propelled him to the top of college football, his financial standing has drawn attention amid the controversy.

According to EssentiallySports website, Moore has an estimated net worth of $28.6 million, based on his five-year contract as Michigan’s head coach, which included a $500,000 annual retention bonus. Despite this, his contract was reportedly several million dollars less per season than his predecessor, Jim Harbaugh, who earned $11.5 million annually.
“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel said in a statement.
Shortly after his dismissal, Moore was detained by police in Saline, Michigan, and then transferred to Pittsfield Township authorities for further investigation into potential charges. Details of the inappropriate relationship have not been made public.
He has been married to Kelly since 2015, and they have three daughters.
