The announcement marks the first major expansion of the A Court of Thorns and Roses universe since 2021’s A Court of Silver Flames, ending a five-year gap that had fueled intense online debate about the series’ direction.
With millions of copies sold globally and a fiercely loyal international fan base, the ACOTAR series has become a defining force in the modern “romantasy” boom, blending epic fantasy world-building with emotionally driven romance arcs.
Release dates
Maas confirmed that ACOTAR 6 is set for release on October 27, 2026, with ACOTAR 7 following on January 12, 2027.She explained that what began as a single story grew far larger than expected. While writing in Montana, she realized the narrative required multiple installments to fully unfold.
According to Maas, the first section alone reached approximately 400 pages, leading her to structure the arc into four parts.
ACOTAR 6 and 7 will cover three of those parts, while a fourth remains in progress.
What the story might explore
Although Maas declined to reveal detailed plot information, fan speculation has intensified. Previous books centered on Feyre Archeron and later Nesta Archeron, prompting widespread theories that Elain Archeron may take center stage next. Maas has historically shifted point-of-view characters to deepen the political and emotional layers of Prythian’s courts. With firm release dates now set, the ACOTAR fandom finally has clarity, and a countdown, as one of contemporary fantasy’s most influential series prepares for its next chapter.
