After the man was brought back to shore, Lifeguards were quick to perform lifesaving efforts. The man was transferred to Ormond Beach Fire Department followed by the Volusia County Emergency Medical Services, The Canadian Press reported. He was then transported to hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived.
In a separate incident that occurred at Hollywood Beach on Friday morning, Hollywood police have identified a person of interest in the death of a woman found on the beach. According to CBS News, detectives have said that they now believe the parties involved in the incident were known to each other and have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Multiple reports claimed that the investigation into the woman’s death began shortly after 7 AM on Friday when a passerby found the woman's body on the sand near Cleveland Street. Speaking about the incident, Hollywood Fire Rescue stated that they responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.
