Punctured skull, hemorrhage in chest, bruises on face: Bryan Kohberger stabbed one of Idaho victims Xana Kernodle 67 times; autopsy report reveals chilling details
University of Idaho murders: New details emerge in the University of Idaho student murders. Bryan Kohberger killed four students in November 2022. Autopsy reports show three victims were killed in their sleep. Xana Kernodle fought back, sustaining...

Autopsy reports of three victims, Goncalves, Mogen and Chapin revealed that they were killed as they lay in bed, suffering fatal injuries before they were even able to get to their feet, according to PEOPLE.
The details of the autopsy report of Kohberger’s fourth victim, Kernodle, who was not asleep nor in bed at the time of the attack, and the crime scene included in a recently unsealed court filing obtained by PEOPLE reveal that she fought a brutal battle against her killer as he stabbed her 67 times.
The theory that suggests Kernodle heard concerning noises on the night of the murders and made her way up to Mogen's bedroom to assess the situation is backed by the evidence from the crime scene.
University of Idaho murders: Sequence of events
On the night when the fatal incident unfolded, Kernodle had received a food delivery order at around the same time Kohberger entered the home. According to the previously released crime photos, a half-eaten meal from Jack in the Box was seen left in the second-floor kitchen, suggesting that she was eating when she heard some sort of commotion upstairs, as reported by PEOPLE.
The filing states that the sequence of events is supported by the fact that traces of Mogen's and Goncalves' blood were found on the door of Mogen's bedroom, the stairwell and bannister leading from the third to the second floor of the home, and on the walls near Kernodle's bedroom, PEOPLE reported.
Kohberger stabs Kernodle 67 times
Kohberger managed to catch up with Kernodle. She made all possible attempts to fight back against him despite being nine inches shorter and unarmed but was stabbed 67 times in the process.
Kernodle suffered stab and incised wounds on several parts of her body
The blood on the bottom of her feet and wiped blood on her body, according to the evidence, suggests that she continued to fight as Kohberger. The attacker’s assault left Kernodle with punctures on the outside shell of the skull; perforations of the jugular vein, heart, lung, and pulmonary blood vessels; hemorrhage into the chest cavities; wounds extending into the bones of the right hand; and scrapes and bruises on the face, torso, and extremities.
