PT Organics recalls fruit pouches over plastic contamination risk; Target, Kroger and Meijer shoppers urged to check products

PT Organics Limited has voluntarily recalled select Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree Pouches after discovering a packaging defect that could result in a strand of soft, food-grade plastic being present inside some products.

The recall, announced on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, affects 4-ounce (113 g) Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree Pouches sold exclusively through Kroger, Meijer and Target stores nationwide between March 6, 2026, and July 13, 2026. The company said no injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled products.

Why are the products being recalled?

According to PT Organics Limited, the recall was initiated because an internal packaging defect may allow a strand of soft, food-grade plastic to enter the finished product.

The company said it launched the voluntary recall after its packaging supplier recalled a production run of defective pouches. Subsequent inspections of finished products confirmed that a small number of pouches contained a strand of soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of the packaging.

• May 15, 2027

No other Pumpkin Tree products, flavors or best-before dates are affected by the recall.

What should consumers do?

PT Organics advises consumers and caregivers who have the recalled pouches to stop using them immediately. The products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a refund and should not be eaten or fed to another person.
