Despite the growing prize, lottery officials continue to remind players that the odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are extremely slim - roughly 1 in 292.2 million.
The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $169 million for the February 18 drawing, sparking renewed excitement among lottery players nationwide. As of Wednesday night, officials had not confirmed whether any ticket matched all six winning numbers. If there is no jackpot winner, the prize will roll over and grow for the next drawing.

Players are being reminded to carefully check their tickets, as several secondary prizes are still up for grabs. These range from smaller cash rewards to multimillion-dollar payouts, even without hitting the jackpot combination.

A potential jackpot winner would have two payout options: a 30-year annuity valued at about $169 million, with annual payments increasing by 5%, or a lump-sum cash option estimated at roughly $79.2 million before taxes.

Powerball jackpots often climb rapidly due to the game’s long odds of 1 in 292.2 million. The lottery is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

The current jackpot comes after a recent reset, following a winning ticket sold in North Carolina that claimed an estimated $209 million prize on January 21. Powerball also made headlines in December 2025, when a man from Arkansas won a record-setting $1.817 billion jackpot on Christmas Eve, the second-largest lottery win in US history.
