The jackpot for Powerball has climbed to an estimated $88 million for the March 16 drawing after no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s draw. With the prize rolling over once again, anticipation is building as millions of players across the United States are expected to purchase tickets before the next drawing.

The eventual winner will have two payout choices. One option is the annuity, valued at about $88 million, which is paid out in annual installments over 30 years. These payments gradually increase by about 5 percent each year, offering a larger amount over time. The second option is a lump-sum cash payout, which is currently estimated at roughly $40 million before taxes.

Even with the extremely slim odds of hitting the jackpot - about 1 in 292.2 million - the lottery continues to attract massive participation. Powerball tickets are available in 45 states, along with Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, giving millions of Americans the chance to try their luck.

The latest rollover comes not long after a major prize was claimed. On March 2, a lucky ticket holder in Arkansas won a $250.8 million jackpot through the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. The prize became the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever won in the state.

Arkansas also holds the record for the state’s biggest win, when a staggering $1.817 billion Powerball jackpot was claimed in December 2025. Another significant win occurred earlier this year when a ticket sold in North Carolina landed an estimated $209 million jackpot on January 21, highlighting a recent run of major lottery wins across the United States.
