The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $100 million for the April 22 drawing after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday night’s results. With the prize rolling over yet again, excitement is building as players across the United States prepare for another shot at a life-changing win.

Winners have two payout choices. The annuity option delivers the full $100 million over 30 years, with yearly payments that grow by roughly 5 percent. The alternative is a lump-sum cash payout, currently estimated at about $45.6 million before taxes.

Even with long odds - around 1 in 292.2 million - the lottery continues to draw massive participation. Tickets are sold across 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, making it one of the most widely played games in the country.

Recent jackpot wins have added to the buzz. Earlier this month, a winning ticket in Delaware claimed $231 million, while another player in Arkansas secured a $250.8 million prize in March, keeping interest in the game at a high level.
