With jackpot odds at 1 in 292.2 million, the prize can grow quickly when no winner emerges.
The winner will be able to choose between two payout options: a 30-year annuity worth about $80 million, with payments rising by 5 percent each year, or a one-time cash payout estimated at $36.2 million before taxes.
Lottery officials continue to remind players that the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot remain extremely low - about 1 in 292.2 million. Even so, Powerball remains one of the nation’s most popular lottery games, played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
The current jackpot comes after a recent win reset the prize. On January 21, a single ticket sold in North Carolina matched all five white balls and the red Powerball to win an estimated $209 million.
Powerball last drew widespread attention in December 2025, when an Arkansas man claimed a record-breaking $1.817 billion jackpot on Christmas Eve.
